Vie Ferrate Monte Baldo
Monte Baldo is renowned for its vie ferrate. One of the most challenging of these is the Ferrata delle Taccole.
This via ferrata is dedicated to Piergiorgio de Rossi and has been reconstructed and re-equipped by the Alpino Scaligero di Verona Group of the CAI.
It is classed as a Via Ferrata type EEA/TD: i.e a very difficult route, for expert and well-equipped hikers.
To get to the via ferrata: go up by the Prada Costabella cable car, then follow path CAI 658 northwards past Rifugio Chierego, and continue until you reach the path to Malga Buse. From here, you go downhill towards Rifugio Telegrafo until you get to the saddle and the metal plate marking the via ferrata.
The via ferrata is only 165 metres long, but it is very exposed and will take you 45 minutes of intense work to climb. There are few natural supports, and although there are brackets, they are spaced far apart.
